The striking band on this hat is made using a technique called entrelac. The term entrelac means “interlaced” and in knitting describes a pattern of squares where each square is knit at right angles to its neighbor. When entrelac is worked with a striping yarn such as Noro’s Silk Garden, the resulting pattern resembles a basket weave where each square is a different color.
